Photographer - Western Sydney

Post  hotrodmatt on Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:32 pm

I'm Matt. From west of Sydney (almost East Perth!).

Mostly shoot photojournalism for a couple of car magazines (Cruzin, Nitro!, Australian Street Rodder and VW Mag Australia and several US mags have had my features over the past couple of years - oh and a ZGT spread in Deadbeat) and a bit of product photography or sports teams when I have to (two young kids to feed, LOL). Bread and butter shooting always seems to get in the way of what I want to shoot. I also do a fair bit of live music photography - mostly rockabilly/psychobilly bands - shooting what you like is always a plus.

So, when not taking cars out on location for features, shooting trackside at the drags or at shows I do occasionally shoot people. I will be ramping this aspect up again this year in a major way.

I hate studios but will use one when absolutely necessary. I prefer an old cluttered shed, a workshop, a derelict building, a factory or the great outdoors any day. I just wish it was easier to power up strobes and hotlights in outdoor locations!

I have great access to a number of hot rods, vintage veedubs, kustoms and race cars if people like cars - but be warned most rodders are terrible at making and keeping dates... and they tend to break things whenever they go drag racing.

And I'm looking at getting my wife into an MUA course, so hopefully she'll be able to start helping out there...

Cheers,
Matt

Since the ZGT boys have retired to their graves for probably quite a while I'm having zombie withdrawals...
Wonder if I could find three new living dead models so I can revisit this triptych I did way back in 2006

Matt,

I'm putting my name down for this one. I have wanted to do a zombie shoot for so long and was actually going to ask you earlier if that was a possibility. Please say yes please please please lol

i have done a lot of zombie work hahaha so if you need any more models let me know, otherwise kitten can keep this to herself since she jumped in first!! ^_^

i am planning with blackbeetle my first individual set - a 50s inspired Diner themed shoot ...i am desparate to get a sexy old hot-rod to be included for some shots parked outside a roadside diner (somewhere?!) you sound like you may be able to help out in this department?

SF.
